The Golden Age

Golden Age of Pinoy Hiphop

I honestly don’t have what I takes to talk about the Golden Age Pinoy Hiphop since I wasn’t really a big fan way back then, although I buy some tapes and memorize some pinoy hiphop songs I didn’t know that it was the golden age during those days. this page is dedicated to the Golden Age of Pinoy Hiphop in my OWN perspective. (sorry kung hindi sunod sunod by timeline as I really don’t know those things)

sir Francis M. “Mga kababayan ko

na yata ang pinaka unang rap song o the very first song (maliban sa Lupang Hinirang at Happy Birthday) that I memorize without even checking any songs hits, the song was a instant hit way back then it was like the new Pambasang Awit everybody knows it, bata pako noon at I remember me singing the whole song when I heard it on the radio(yes radio malakas ang hiphop sa radio noon) but since I was just a kid I have no clue that you can buy that on tape so I don’t have a copy of that album.

“Humanap ka nang panget” by sir Andrew E

was another hit I don’t know if it’s a bigger hit than Mga kababayan ko but likewise everybody knows the songs, maybe because anyone can relate to that song, it’s witty funny and at the same time is true, cathy ang bawat lines at madaling makabisado way back then no one can refuse to love that song specially the “wa-wag na wag na uy!!”

hindi ko alam ang pagkakasunod sunog nga mga hits way back then since im not really a big but just an ordinary listener but I remember sir Michael V’s “Maganda ang piliin mo”

since everybody knows Humanap ka ng Panget every person knows it’s a response to the song, and when I think about this two song pumapasok din sa isip ko ang “Wag ka muna mag-asawa” ni sir Denmark

yun ang unang track na narinig ko kay sir Denmark not his famous track “si Luningning”

kasama rin sa Golden Age ang birth ng Gangsta rap sa pilipinas sa hit na “Gusto kong bumaet”

ng Death threat although at istilo nito ay hindi katulad ng mga nauna kong nabangit it is also a big hit at tinangap ito ng masa marahil narin siguro dahil sa nakaka relate sila dito even me when I was a kid I know this song I memorize it easily because it’s appealing and genuine.

way back then hindi ko talaga msyadong kinaka career ang hilig ko sa rap im not really a big fan so I never know Mastaplann but my big brother have the poster of them in our walls and he buys tapes and play it almost every afternoon syempre it was a new sound to me hindi ako makarelate dahil narin siguro sa English language nito(bata pako noon malay ko ba) but Mastaplann songs are all good medyo nag iba ang tingin ko sa hiphop noon dahil sa MP song’s like:

Fix da World Up,

Bring that booty

at syempre kung saan ako nakarekate way back then
Tumalon Sumayaw at Sumigaw.

and syempre how can I forget Lady Dianne “Sa-sa-sadam”

the first lady of rap na talaga namang sumikat rin sa kasagsagan ng Pinoy Hiphop.

at ang makatulo laway na si boss Chill at ang isa sa kanyang hit track na
“Baliw”

Marami pang ibang groups na umusbong sa Golden Age of Pinoy Hiphop na may kanya kanyang style and they contribute unforgettable tracks like:
